Thousands rally in front of White House to demand ceasefire in Gaza

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Washington DC, calling for an end to Israel’s brutal war in the Gaza Strip, which has entered its 100 days.

The demonstrators gathered in front of the White House in the United States capital on Saturday, as they carried signs listing the names of Palestinians killed and accusing President Joe Biden of participating in genocide.

The protesters also held aloft signs questioning Biden’s viability as a presidential candidate due to his support for Israel’s assault on Gaza, with some of the signs reading No votes for Genocide Joe, Biden has blood on his hands and Let Gaza live.

Sunday’s event was led by a coalition of pro-Palestinian groups who are calling for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, an end to US funding for the Israeli military and for Israel to be held accountable for war crimes and violations of international law.

Attendees from close to two dozen states participated in the rally, marking the biggest pro-Palestinian march since November.

Meanwhile, children joined a pro-Palestinian march through the British capital, London, as part of a global day of action against the longest and deadliest Israeli war on Gaza.

March organizers said the Palestinian children would accompany Little Amal, a 3.5-meter (11.5-foot) puppet originally meant to highlight the suffering of Syrian refugees, through the streets of central London.

Several other protests were also being held in European cities including Paris, Rome, Milan and Dublin.

In Dublin, thousands marched along the Irish capital’s main thoroughfare to protest Israel’s onslaught against Gaza, as they waved Palestinian flags and held placards critical of Ireland, the US, and Israel and chanted Free, free Palestine.″

In Rome, hundreds of demonstrators descended on a boulevard near the Colosseum, with some carrying signs reading, Stop Genocide.

Hundreds of demonstrators also gathered in Paris’ Republic Square to call for an immediate cease-fire, an end to the war, a lifting of the blockade on Gaza and to impose sanctions on Israel, as they waved Palestinian flags and held aloft placards and banners reading, From Gaza to Paris. Resistance.

The Israeli regime waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime’s atrocities against Palestinians.

Since the start of the aggression, Israel has killed more than 23,843 Palestinians, mostly women and children. Nearly 60,317 Palestinians have also been wounded, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The Tel Aviv regime has also imposed a complete siege on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
